How to increase the magnetic strength of NdFeB magnets?

With the continuous development of science and technology, the application of magnetic power has been continuously deepened. Many users may be curious, how do permanent  magnet manufacturer  how strengthen the magnetic force, and which are the technical methods?

There are two common methods that can strengthen the magnetic power of strong NdFeB permanent magnet: change the size and material. In terms of the size, if the contact area is large, the thickness is thin, then increasing the thickness of the magnet will have a great effect on the strengthening of the magnetic power. If the contact area is small and the thickness is relatively thick, then the increase of the contact area of the magnet will directly change magnetic force.

Speaking of changing the material, NdFeB magnetic material is divided into various material grades. If the dimensions of the magnet are strictly limited, changing the material grade will be a feasible option.

In 2016, new installed capacity of global wind power sets reached 546.42 million kilowatts, among which penetration rate of direct drive motor was 35%. 0.67kg of NdFeB magnets were applied in installed capacity of per kilowatt. According to this calculation, 1275 million tons of neodymium magnets were globally used in wind power sets in 2016. Based on estimation, by 2021, installed capacity of newly increased wind power send will reach 750 million kilowatts; therefore, growth rate of newly increased installed capacity is 6.5% in the world. Suppose that in 2017 and 2018, penetration rate of PM direct drive motor of wind turbines rises by 1%, then 1396.7 million tons and 1528.7 million tons of sintered NdFeB permanent magnets will be used in wind power worldwide, with year-on–year growth rate of 9.54% and 9.46%.
